Shaun Of The Dead intro
The long shots show where the film is going to be set. We can see a long shot of a supermarket and we can see a long shot of a boy playing football in a road with semi detached housing. This would give us the impression that this film will be located in a town. With this film being located in a rural area it will mean many people will be able to relate to it which would make them more intrigued to watch the film. The pace of the editing is fairly slow this would suggest that this film is not an action.
The target audience of this film will be males aged from around 16-40. The reason teenagers would want to watch this is because its a comedy film. Teens will want to watch something that will make them laugh, also we can see that one of the characters is acting like a zombie, this would suggest that this film will be gruesome which will attract teenagers. 30-40 year old would want to watch this as the two main characters seem to be in that age bracket, this would mean that they will be able to relate to them.
The two main characters are also shown to be living in a middle class house and the clothing they wear is very average this would mean that many people will be able to relate to them. Having zombies in a rural area is very different and this could also attract more people to watch the film. It can be seen as a unique selling point.
We can see that these two men are the main characters as they are shown for alot longer than the other scenes before. we can see that this film is a comedy, this is because there are a few bits of humor in the opening scene. For example the man forgetting that he had work and when the man wakes up he acts like a zombie. People watch comedy films to escape from their every day lives and to be entertained. Alot of things in comedy films are stereo typically unrealistic. So having Zombies in 'Shaun of the Dead' is a convention of a comedy.
