Target audience of an Action

For an action film the main target audience is males. Stereo typically the male audience enjoy seeing explosions, fighting and stunts. The conventions of an action include these and many more things that would attract the male audience.
There is a small section of action that is targeting the female audience. In action there is usually a love interest. The romance will attract females to watch the film.

The target audience will be around the age of 15-35, this is because many people this age will want to see fast paced exciting films that entertain them. The multiple number of shots and the fast paced editing will keep the audience entertained and on the edge of their seats.


Many males aged 15-35 will think about going to a place far away and this would link with action films. Most action films are set in an exotic location which will give the audience a sence of escapism. Also people in the 15-35 age bracket will be under some sort of stress so they will want to watch something that will allow them to escape from their every daylives and action films are perfect for this.
Many young people will want to watch action films as they would want to relate to the 'hero' in the film as that is what they will aspire to be like.

The majority of the characters in action films are male, this could link with males being the core target audience as they will be able to relate with many of the characters.
